Hartfields is an ‘extra care’ retirement village for older people, aged 55 plus and is located in the residential area of Bishop Cuthbert, which is approximately two-miles from Hartlepool Town Centre.

Extra care is a relatively new concept designed to create a community where older people can live an independent life in a socially supportive environment. Hartfields is suitable for people who want to live in their own home, but have access to care and support services, if required. It consists of a variety of self contained accommodation with extensive communal facilities enabling people to engage in a full and active social life at a pace they are comfortable with.

Hartfields is a partnership which brings together the expertise of the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust; Hartlepool Borough Council; Hartlepool Primary Care Trust; and North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Trust.

It is owned and managed by the Joseph Rowntree Housing Trust (JRHT), a charity and registered social landlord. In addition to owning a large stock of general housing, JRHT has specialised in the provision of housing and support services for older people for many years.

Hartfields has a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments and also two-bedroom cottages. These are spacious and modern, with a high quality finish and enhanced security features, including an emergency call system. All the properties have been built to a recognised standard called ‘Lifetime Homes’, which means that they are fully accessible and flexible to changing needs. This includes level access for wheelchair users and the ability to easily accommodate aids and adaptations.

Directions:

Exit the A19 at the junction with the A179 and take the road towards Hartlepool (A179). Follow the main through roads keep to the left for approximately one mile, until you come to a roundabout which is signposted to Hartfields (on the left).
